Common HVAC Cleaning FAQ

In this blog entry, the Houston HVAC Cleaning and Houston Insulation and Attic Services experts here at Pro Attic Houstn will detail some common questions that we get asked regarding our HVAC cleaning services.

Are there health benefits associated with HVAC system cleaning?

Yes. HVAC systems, air conditioning systems, ventilation systems, and heating systems can collect a wide range of mold, bacteria, fungi, dust, and other allergens that can affect health. Removing these contaminants from your HVAC system will make your indoor air quality much healthier.

How can I find out if my HVAC system cleaning worked?

All you need to do is visually inspect the HVAC system. If you see any dust or debris, the system wasn’t fully cleaned. You can try to inspect it using a mirror and flashlight, but a better bet is to hire a professional air duct cleaning team.

How often should I clean my residential HVAC system?

We recommend frequently cleaning your HVAC system, at least once every couple months, especially if:

  • There’s smokers in your house
  • You have pets that shed hair and danger
  • If there has been any water contamination or damage
  • Any residents have allergies or asthma
  • After renovations
  • After remodeling
  • Before moving into a new home

What are antimicrobial chemicals?

These chemicals are applied to the interior surface of your air duct to treat, remove, and prevent contamination of fungi, viruses, and bacteria. These chemicals should be EPA approved, non-toxic, and environmentally friendly.

Will HVAC and air duct system cleaning lower home energy bills?

Yes. The United States EPA has studied this, and proven that HVAC system cleaning allows air duct systems to more efficiently run by eliminating debris from mechanical components. Clean and efficiently operating air duct systems are far less likely to break, have much longer lives, and operate with far more efficiency than dirty HVAC systems or air ducts.
