Attic insulation installation in Spring

The rapidly growing Texas state has attracted investors and people who want to live in an area where the cost of living is bearable. One of the best places to live in is Spring. Here the weather in April, October, and March are the most pleasant months in Spring, while July and August are the least comfortable weather.

The city is well kept with luscious greenery and beautiful landscaping all around. If you anticipate finding a place to live, then consider coming to spring. However, for those living in Spring, let’s talk about making your home comfortable all year round.

Most of us don’t understand how attic insulation works and how important it is. This is why Pro Attic wants to enlighten you about this vital aspect of your home.

What is attic insulation?

This is a thermally insulated, protective interior covering process that involves the use of various types of insulation materials. An attic is a form of barrier between the ceiling and the roof of the house.

The product is created and designed with various materials and components such as glass, phenolic rock wool, or polyurethane foam. There are different types of roof attics, and that means the insulation material and type will be different.

Why should you insulate your attic?

The primary purpose of attic insulation is to reduce heat flow. This is achieved by adding materials that are with low thermal conductivity under your roof. Insulating your building, therefore, achieves thermal comfort to the occupants of your house.

Other than reducing unwanted heat loss, insulation also reduces unwanted heat gain. Insulation can also decrease energy bills since the demand for heating and cooling systems is lowered. We all yearn for energy efficiency in our homes, right? Also, we would all love to save money. So, this is an excellent thing here.

Types of attic insulation that we do.

Insulation is done with various materials. We can install the materials depending on the clients’ tastes and preferences. Here are some of the insulation types that we can install.

Blown-in insulation.

Blown-in insulation is best when it comes to filling existing wall studs and ceiling joists faster and easier. There are two types of blown-in insulation as named here;

Blown-in fiberglass insulation.

This is made of glass and sand that are blown into fibers. This type of insulation works better for wall cavities and attics. It can insulate the attic and protect the area from moisture that can lead to the formation of fungus or mold.

Since we value environmental conservation, we prefer using fiberglass made from recycled glass. Most of the quality loose-fill fiberglass that we use will prevent moisture from making its way into the house. It also won’t rot since it won’t absorb moisture. Also, it has a higher R-value, flame resistant, and non-combustible.

Blown-in cellulose.

This is a popular choice of insulation because it uses eco-friendly and safe materials. Cellulose is made from over 80% recycled old newspapers that are shredded and treated with fire-resistant retardants. Some of the chemicals that have been used as retardants include Ammonium Sulphate and borate, which prevent pest and mold.

For blown-in cellulose, we would, however, urge you not to choose a brand of cellulose that has mineral fibers. Cry cellulose will be a wise choice when insulating existing cavity walls. Celluloses’ R-Value is also very high. However, we acknowledge it to be accompanied by a vapor barrier for impressive results.

Spray foam insulation.

This is a type of insulation blown using a hose or gun.  The spray foam insulation can be blown into attic surfaces to reduce air leaks. The foam can fill even smaller cavities hence creating an effective air barrier. The foam can cover a large area since it can spread up to 50 times its liquid volume.

Batt insulation.

Batt is one of the most common products used to insulate walls, attics, and basements. Batts are manufactured from fiberglass and come in rolls or pre-cut panels. They can also be made from stone or cotton wool. Our professionals will install the batts real quick. It is the least expensive way of insulating homes and has impressive results.

Rigid Foam Insulation.

This type possesses a higher R-value than much other insulation. They promote comfort by regulating the temperature so the AC won’t be overworked. They have rigid foams panels of about 4 by 8 foot that vary in thickness. They are moist, and water-resistant hence can’t crack when exposed to water.

Mineral wool insulation.

This is a highly versatile product made from mineral materials such as stone, industrious waste, or molten glass.  They are mixed into a fiber like structure. This combination has a higher R-Value (the ability of insulation material to resist heat flow). They are available in either glass wool insulation or stone wool insulation. Both of these prevent heat loss, noise pollution, and risk of fire.
